One of the things I love most about @Cambridge University Press Education’s Primary & Lower Secondary core resources for schools, is that they all have an abundance of editable downloadable worksheets for each subject.
Why does this matter when it comes to #differentiation?
That’s what we explored with the vibrant, jovial team at #universalprivateschool in Al Ain today.
Together we practiced a mechanism to make those worksheets work differently - a simple strategy to differentiate the process of learning.
Here’s how you do it:
🧐Choose three worksheets that have a similar theme or topic. 📝📝📝
Then, decide for each one to be as follows:
1️⃣ Individual: one of the worksheets should be suitable for individuals to complete quietly.
2️⃣ Pairs: one of the worksheets should be suitable for a pair to complete.
3️⃣ Groups: one of the worksheets should be for a group.
Why it works for differentiating the process:
1. You can give solo activities to those who may not be in a talkative mood
2. You can give paired activities to some parts of the room
3. You will always have something to give a pair or group who finish quickly
4. You have learners tackle activities from a differently angle but all have the same end goal / topic
4. …so many more ways! You’ll just have to try it to know…
In any case, Peter Lucantoni, this is one I learned from you again 🙏🏼☺️, and it worked a charm today!
There was a period in the session where absolutely every single teacher was fully focused working on something but all in a different way - some alone, some together, some in pairs - Dr. Hamed Faqawi do you remember? It’s the moment when I said “the magic is happening!!!”
Thank you so much to #universalprivateschool in Al Ain for welcoming me today for this bumper PD session. Amazing efforts all round!

P.S. I know full well that in more conservative schools in the Middle East there are no handshakes or touching of hands at all. But today, I must have been thinking I was really teaching again because I tried to high 5 a Mister Teacher, and it was an epic fail. I got the magnet repel. Oops! Note to self: always stick to the air high 5! Always. :) 🙈✋🏼🙋🏻♀️
P.S. still reading? About the last pic: I know it seems to be just a truck, but if you look carefully, there are a few #camels who were hanging out in said truck at the traffic lights with me for a while there. 😁🐫. I chuckled and waved 🙋🏻♀️👋🏼🤣 #UAE
