[#wellbeing, #careersĀ + #travelšæ] A big reason I chose to move into a career in international educational publishing with Cambridge University Press & AssessmentĀ is the opportunity from time to time to connect with colleagues based in the headquarters for conferences and meetings. Whenever this is possible, it usually means Iām able to stack a quick visit to my family in the UK around the work portion of the trip. #whatablessing.
Sometimes I still pinch myself that this my life - being able to travel like this, and to such special places like Cambridge, all while being able to touch base with family.
This current period is one of those times.
For the past few days youād have found me back in the UK, running around barefoot in my uncleās garden in #BurtononTrent, hugging lots of family members there, waving at Repton School as I drove past (yes - the England branch, not the Dubai one!), and helping my Aunty Sue sort out her vintage stamp collection in #Chester, among other happy activities involving food and laughter.
Iāve mentioned this before: the ability to just ābe thereā for the hugs, the quiet moments, and the meals is a big part of the wellbeing puzzle. I am grateful to have the opportunities to enjoy these pieces of life that offer time to rejuvenate and recharge.
So there you have it:
350+miles by car (London to Burton to Chester to Cambridge), 6 chocolate eclairs, 2 ploughmanās cheddar cheese sandwiches, and a suspected slow tyre puncture later (story for another post), I find myself back in #Cambridge.
Iāve never travelled this much in my whole life: Iāve barely been able to update my family with my whereabouts recently, let alone hop on here for a whirlā¦ so here we are.
I include a few snaps, you know - for proof Iām alive and that the adventure continues.
Itās now ready, set, go for a week of reconnecting, planning and reflecting with my colleagues here for the year ahead of #ProfessionalDevelopmentĀ activity for #InternationalEducationĀ at the Cambridge University Press & AssessmentĀ headquarters.
Beyond grateful for this time, and excited for the days ahead. Have you ever been to Cambridge? Letās go!
P.S. about those last photos - #chocolateeclairsĀ are just one of my absolute loves. They are also something I canāt get easily in Dubai. Along with a good fresh ploughmanās cheddar cheese sandwich (similarly difficult to get abroad), these are the first things I eat once I get to the UK, no matter what time I arrive. #rituals! Do you have any comfort foods from your childhood? Whatās the first thing you eat when you get #backtobase?
